Hello everyone!  My name is Nala Sahman, the proud founder of The Legal Initiative non-profit organization. I was introduced to the legal world as a freshman in high school through my school’s mock trial team. I learned how to build opening statements, conduct cross examinations, and think like an advocate, but I also quickly noticed a gap. Many of my peers had built-in support, often with attorneys in their families who could guide them outside the classroom, while I didn’t. When I had questions, I relied on the use of Google.

That experience made one thing clear: interest in law isn’t the issue. Students with curiosity and potential are often left behind simply because they don’t have exposure to legal professionals or reliable guidance.

This Initiative was created to close that gap. By providing early exposure to the legal field, young adolescents can begin to understand what a future in law actually looks like before they are expected to make major decisions about college and their careers. They can discover the many different paths within the legal profession, develop practical skills, build confidence, and form relationships with mentors who can help guide them along the way.
